Episode #6 – Stephen Martelli (Grizz)

One of the most recognizable figures I met on the trail, Grizz gave me some really helpful advice in those early miles. He bore an uncanny resemblance to Santa Claus, pulling out the great man’s hat on several occasions to keep us amused. He is full of knowledge about the trail and will happily respond if you’d like to email him. He can be reached at sjmartelli2186@gmail.com. He is a great resource.

I was entirely unable to figure out how to attach his spreadsheet (mentioned in the podcast), so drop me an email and I’ll be happy to send it to you.

  1. Hi Steve! Love your podcasts and your blog. I’m looking forward to also hiking the trail vicariously with Jessa as she gets going north this spring. Would you be so kind as to forward me Grizz’s planning spreadsheet? I was hoping to be able to embark on my own attempt at the AT this spring, but circumstances got in my way and now i’m hoping (planning) for next year.

    Thank you in advance!
    Tim (aka Geo)

  2. I am hooked on your podcasts thanks to Glenn the Geek.
I have a friend who is planning to hike a part of the trail and her son is planning to do the entire thing. I have a feeling that spreadsheet would be a great help to her, I want to give her every chance possible to succeed and enjoy and not worry about her son too.

    1. Jody,
Thanks, I’ve attached the spreadsheet to an email that should be with you by now. I’d be happy to help out in any way that I can, so feel free to share my email address with your friend or her son if they have any questions.
